Userinit.exe is a critical Windows system file. The file runs logon scripts, reestablishes network connections and starts Explorer.exe, the main Windows user interface. Consequently, deleting userinit.exe can cause significant system errors and is not recommended. Nevertheless, if the file has become corrupt, you may want to delete the file and install a fresh copy. This can be done using the Windows Command Prompt.
Instructions
1 Click "Start," type "cmd" into the search field and press "Enter." Type your administrator password if prompted. The Command Prompt opens.
2 Type the following commands into the Command Prompt. Press "Enter" after each command.
taskkill Userinit.exe
del Userinit.exe
3 Type "exit" and press "Enter" to close the Command Prompt.
