‘Boss’ your Google TV around with Able Remote using voice commands

The Able Remote app converts an Android tablet or smartphone into an interactive remote control for the Google TV through a personalized button layout, voice command options, and gesture controls.
The app’s creator, Leon Nicholls, took to the official Google TV blog today to spotlight his creation that effectively turns an Android device into a customizable remote that also implements one-touch buttons for launching websites, television channels, or Google TV apps:
Boss your TV around. Now you can use voice commands like “channel CNN” or “app Pandora.” Or launch channels and apps with the touch of a button. Yes, it’s that easy. Your new favorite remote may already be in your pocket.
More information and screenshots are available below.
Nicholls outlined other features within the app, including photos, videos, and Caller ID. He said users can beam media content from their smartphone to a television for everyone to view on a bigger screen, and the app lets users keep watching while texts and Caller ID information displays as a notification across the television.
Alternative installation instructions are also available in the blog post for users itching to test their Google Goggles QR code scanner:
You can find Able Remote featured in the Android Market on your Google TV. Once you have installed the app on your Google TV, use a QR reader app like Google Goggles to scan the QR code displayed on your TV screen. When the QR code is scanned, click on the link for the code to install the app on your Android device.
Able Remote is a free download requiring Android 3.1 or up, and it now has a 4.3-star rating through Android Market based on 47 reviews as of press time. It is also worth noting the app must be installed on an Android device and Google TV to properly function.
