New Samsung Galaxy S III details leaked online

A 4.8-inch display with 1080p resolution already sounds like a winner.

We may be a few months away from seeing the official announcement for the Samsung Galaxy S III handset, but that's certainly not going to stop the rumor mill from churning out new details.

Case in point: a list of specs for the Galaxy S III surfaced over the weekend and provided a rather complete picture for what will undoubtedly be one of the most popular Android smartphones of the year.

The information obtained by BGR tells us that Samsung plans to launch the device across more than 50 "markets or cities" simultaneously, which is good news for those hoping to see the U.S. model(s) arrive at or near the same time as its international counterpart.

According to BGR's source, the Galaxy S III will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's TouchWiz UI and boast a massive 4.8-inch "full HD" display. More specifically, the screen will be 1080p HD and offer a 16:9 aspect ratio--something unheard of in a smartphone thus far. To think, we were just getting acclimated to those 720p HD displays.

Moving along, the Galaxy S III should also pack a 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and support for 4G LTE connectivity. Rounding out the details is word that the handset will come with a ceramic case, which is a departure from Samsung's usual penchant for plastic chassis.

It's worth pointing out that these details match up, for the most part, with those leaked just one month ago. The chief difference here is that while Eldar Murtazin said the Galaxy S III would offer a 12-megapixel camera, BGR is reporting 8 megapixels.via[cnet]
